Terms of Service

1. Welcome to PennyResearch

PennyResearch (hereinafter referred to as "we") is an AI-powered deep research assistant. Our core capability is helping you conduct research — through AI conversations, web search, web content extraction, and file analysis — to quickly organize and understand information.

By using PennyResearch, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.

These Terms apply to PennyResearch Inc. and its operated PennyResearch website and related services.

2. Account

Registration & Security

You register an account using your email address and password. The email you provide must belong to you, and you agree to be responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

You should keep your password secure. If you discover unauthorized use of your account, please notify us immediately.

Age Restriction

You must be at least 18 years old to use PennyResearch. If we discover that a user under 18 has registered, we reserve the right to immediately terminate the account without a refund.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use PennyResearch for the following activities:

• Illegal Content — Generating, distributing, or storing content that violates applicable law, including but not limited to pornography, violence, discrimination, defamation, and fraud
• System Abuse — Attempting to crack, reverse engineer, or tamper with PennyResearch's code, API, or infrastructure
• Automated Abuse — Using scripts, crawlers, or automated tools to make bulk calls to the service without our express written permission
• Service Interference — Attempting in any way to disrupt, overload, or impair the normal operation of the service
• Misleading Others — Using AI output to impersonate others or distributing AI-generated content without reasonable disclosure

If we detect any of the above activities, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account without notice.

4. Your Content

"Your Content" means all information you submit, upload, or generate through PennyResearch, including:

• Chat messages and prompts you input
• Files you upload (PDFs, Office documents, images, etc.)
• Responses generated by AI based on your input

You own your content. We do not claim ownership of your content. Using this service does not transfer the copyright of your content to us.

5. Our Rights to Your Content

To provide you with the service, we need certain operational permissions. However, our scope of permissions is very limited:

• We obtain a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license solely to process your content to provide, maintain, and improve PennyResearch services
• Specifically, this includes: transmitting content between your device and our servers, storing content in our database, and passing necessary data to third-party services (such as DeepSeek for generating responses, Serper for performing searches)
• We will not use your content for any purpose beyond the above
• We will not sell your content to third parties
• We will not use your content to train AI models (see Privacy Policy for details)

When you delete your account, we will delete your content within 30 days (except where retention is required by law).

6. AI Service Disclaimer

Specifically:

• AI may "hallucinate" — generating information that appears plausible but is actually incorrect
• Web search and web fetch results are limited by search engine and extraction tool capabilities, and may miss or misread information
• We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI responses
• You assume all risks and decision-making responsibilities associated with using AI-generated content

7. Third-Party Services

PennyResearch relies on third-party services for AI inference, web search, content retrieval, database storage, and payment processing. These services are governed by their own terms. We do not control and are not responsible for the data practices of these third parties.

8. Paid Services & Credits

Credit System

PennyResearch uses a credit-based billing system. Each use of AI conversation, search, web fetch, or file analysis consumes a certain number of credits. Specific consumption rates are displayed within the product.

• Credits do not expire — Credits obtained through subscription do not expire while your subscription is active
• Credits are non-refundable if your account is terminated for violations
• When you voluntarily close your account, remaining credits cannot be refunded or transferred

Payment Processing

All payments are processed through Stripe. We do not store your credit card or payment account information. Payment-related terms are governed by Stripe's terms of service.

Refund Policy

Consumed credits are non-refundable. For unused credits, if you request a refund within 3 days of purchase, we will review on a case-by-case basis. Please contact support@pennyresearch.com.

9. Free Tier

Registration earns you 200 free credits to experience the core features. Free tier users enjoy the same privacy protections as paid users. We do not lower your data security standards because you are a free user.

We reserve the right to adjust the number and scope of free tier credits at any time. Changes will be communicated via in-product notification or email.

10. Disclaimer

You use this service entirely voluntarily and assume all associated risks.

11. Limitation of Liability

The above limitations do not apply to losses arising from our gross negligence, willful misconduct, or liability that cannot be excluded by applicable law.

12. Termination

You May Terminate at Any Time

You can delete your account at any time in your account settings. After deletion, we will clean up your data within 30 days (except where retention is required by law).

We May Terminate

If you violate these Terms (especially Section 3 on Acceptable Use), we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account without refunding fees already paid.

Upon termination, your right to use the service terminates immediately. Fees already paid are non-refundable (except as otherwise required by law).

13. Terms Changes

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. For material changes (such as reducing your rights, increasing your obligations, changing data processing methods, etc.), we will notify you in advance through:

• Sending an email to your registered email address
• Notifying you via an in-product banner

Notice of material changes will be sent at least 14 days in advance. Your continued use of the service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Non-material changes (such as formatting adjustments, typo corrections, etc.) may take effect at any time without further notice.
